Our Story

Thallo & Whimsy is a small UK fantasy art studio creating playful tokens and tabletop accessories for Magic: The Gathering and Riftbound players, collectors, and lovers of cosy fantasy art.

I’m Danielle, the artist behind the brand. I’m a tabletop player myself, and Thallo & Whimsy began in the most natural way possible. I started drawing tokens for my own Commander decks.

Like many Magic players, I wanted tokens that felt a little more special on the table. Something colourful, expressive, and full of personality rather than generic placeholders. So I began illustrating my own.

What started as a few sketches for personal games slowly grew into something bigger. Friends wanted copies, local players asked for their own, and before long Thallo & Whimsy became a small creative studio dedicated to making whimsical, practical art for the tabletop.

Today I create hand illustrated trading card game tokens, art cards, and fantasy accessories designed to add a little extra charm to game night.

Every piece begins as a drawing. I work in a playful, cartoon inspired style with bold line art, bright characterful details, and a focus on tokens that are easy to read and enjoyable to play with.

Most importantly, every design is illustrated by hand. No AI, ever.

These tokens are made to be used. To sit proudly on the battlefield, to spark conversation at the table, and to become part of the stories that unfold during a game.

You will often find themes of cosy fantasy, cheerful creatures, seasonal magic, and tiny whimsical details woven throughout the artwork. The goal is simple: to make tokens that feel joyful to place on the table.

Thallo & Whimsy is run independently from the UK, and every product begins with the same simple idea that started it all: drawing tokens that make playing the game even more fun.
